Thinking In Moderation

September 5, 2012 § 1 Comment

“My family has been Republican since Lincoln – since the party started. My parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents were all Republicans. But it’s changed. There’s no room for people who actually think in moderation.”

  • Jean Schodorf, Republican State Senator in Kansas, September 1, 2012
  • Source: Kansas City Star
  • Context: Schodorf, after announcing that she is leaving the Republican Party, said she would either change her voter registration to Democrat or Independent. The decision came after Schodorf was targeted this year by conservative groups who back Gov. Sam Brownback and losing to a conservative in the primary. She went on to say: “from what I understand, there are many moderate-thinking Republicans who think they are no longer welcome in their party.”
