Worse Than Any Enemy We’ve Had

“Well to show our Governor our President, Speaker of the House, what we really think of them. That these people are anti-American, they’re un-America, basically they’re worse than any of the enemies America has ever fought against.”

“We fought against Communism for 46 years during the Cold War and basically we’ve let a Communist into the White House. He’s not just a socialist, he’s an out and out communist. He’s taken over the auto industry, he’s taken over the banks. Socialists have high taxes, communists take over businesses, take over ownership. That’s what he’s done.”

  • Context: This video recently came to the attention of the City Council of Sterling Heights, prompting members of the council to pass a resolution on August 8, 2012, urging for Smith to resign from his post. The video, taken in April of 2009, shows“Smith, a tea party member, displaying signs showing illustrations of the impaled head of the president, then-Gov. Jennifer Granholm with a noose around her neck and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with bullet holes in her face. The signs also included slurs against undocumented immigrants and gay people.” In the video, other members of the Tea Party rally can be heard saying “it’s a set up”, “don’t believe him”, and “shut up”, implying that Smith was there to embarrass the Tea Party. In the video, Smith denied the allegations, saying “its not a set up”. After three years, it is apparent that Smith is, in fact, a Tea Party member and not a plant.
