“My sources tell me David Koch played a key role in Ryan’s selection and that Koch’s wife Julia had been quietly lobbying for Ryan. The selection was cemented at the July 22nd fundraiser Koch held for Romney at the former’s sumptuous Hamptons estate. Koch pledged $100 million more to C-4 and Super PAC efforts for Romney for Ryan’s selection.”

  • Context: Roger Stone has been a Republican lobbyist, consultant, and strategist for decades but has recently become more Libertarian. According to his sources, the Koch brothers offered Romney’s campaign $100 million if he picked Ryan as his running mate. Furthermore, only four days after the announcment of Ryan as Romney’s running mate, Ryan traveled to Las Vegas to meet Sheldon Adelson, who has pledged $100 million dollars of his own wealth to defeat Barack Obama. Together, wealthy Republicans have pledged to spend $1 billion dollars to help the Romney campaign. So far, 57% of all super PAC donations have come from only 47 millionairs and billionaires, who have given $1 million or more; 94% have come from those donating $10,000 or more. Stone also criticizes Ryan’s political career, calling him a “big government Republican.”
