- Context: Romney has taken much credit for saving the 2002 Olympics during his 2012 bid for president, and has repeatedly condemned the role which government plays in society. However, in his first book, Romney acknowledged the support of the federal government for the success of the games. Also, during his opening speech at the Olympics, he reminded everyone that the athletes competing owed much of their success to their communities and government.
