- Context: LaPierre doubled down on his statement that the solution to preventing school massacres is to place armed security at every school in the country. Critics have argued that there were armed guards both Columbine High School and Virginia Tech who failed to prevent those massacre. Further criticism contends that if placing armed guards at schools is the solution, they would also have to be placed in all theaters, malls, and other public places where massacres have occurred.
