- Context: Boehner was responding to a question about Obama’s comments about building the economy from the middle class and not from the top down. Contrary to Boehners statement, Obama has had several jobs prior to becoming President. After graduating from Columbia in 1983 he worked for Business International Corporation and New York Public Interest Research Group. He then moved to Chicago to become a community organizer. After that he worked as an associate for the law firms of Sidley & Austin and, in 1990, Hopkins & Sutter. Obama also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, during which time he also worked as a full time lawyer for Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Through out his adult life Obama was also took on leadership positions in many organizations.
